I absolutely love it! In
The measure would require couples to prove they can have children to get a marriage license. Couples who do not have children within three years face the annulment.
If heterosexual marriage is so goddam sacred and the reason same sex couples can not get married is because they can’t produce children, then the conservatives should embrace this with open arms, it makes sense. Of course, they are short on sense.
Hetero marriage is a sham, ask me; ask a lot of my friends. It is highly over rated. The divorce rate soars yet two men or women in a loving, committed relationship is a threat?? I don’t get it.
I know not a single divorced heterosexual who has ever told me that same sex marriage damaged their marriage. Maybe it did because one of them wanted to marry someone of the same sex, but that is a different animal all together.
The measure has little chance to pass, even the supporters acknowledge that. But the point is made. The right screams same sex marriage is wrong because it can't produce children (they of course deny ever saying that) yet won't acknowledge the sickness of the institution as a whole. This will be interesting to follow.

This is so absolutely true. If the purpose of marriage is to procreate, then I have failed miserably (not a fan of the whole "kid" thing). Also, if Washington wants more kids, then bring in all the Mexicans, catholics, and blacks and the state will collapse under the weight of its social services budget in no time! If procreation is what Washington state wants to legislate, then why not promote in vitro and other alternative fertilization methods and skip the man and the marriage altogether?
Damn funny. Damn weird. Damn stupid.
I also wanted to add that this country has spent how many decades(?) promoting hetero marriage and endless procreation through tax policies. The government has always had to bribe people to get them to marry. Otherwise, most just don't see the need. I've always thought that unfair because as one who chose not to have kids, why should I have to pay more taxes so that you can have more kids? You're the one having kids; YOU pay their way.
Contrast those same policies with how men are treated once the kid arrives. At that point, the man is liable for everything in front of a court, and always loses. Even if my brother were to beat his life sentence and walk out of prison, he would be immediately arrested and thrown back in because he owes over $75,000 in child support since being IN jail. Go figure how fucked up that is.
Gay marriage should be supported and passed. But can we use it as an excuse to fix what's "legally" wrong with marriage itself? I don't wish the court system on gays, ever.
