A few years ago, I was visiting St Louis. After a minute or so converation with a waitress, she said "You aren't from around here!!" Of course she was right, I live in the Chicago area. "How did she know?!" I asked my St Louis friend, totally puzzled. Turns out, I used the wrong term for a carbonated beverage, "pop". The correct term was "soda".
